When Mailbutler fits

You need tracking, signatures, templates, mail merge or shared inbox assignments alongside AI. Your team works across Apple Mail, Gmail or Outlook, and values shared notes, tasks and collaboration status.

When LittleDraft adds value

Your main task is answering emails in your own style. You want to choose the sent examples for each account, reuse imported guides or policies, capture relevant information with Pro, or draft locally on a compatible Mac.

Compare the right plans and billing periods.

Mailbutler’s AI requires Smart or Business after the trial; its cheaper tiers are not equivalent AI offers. Annual rates are monthly equivalents billed yearly, while LittleDraft Basic and Pro are billed monthly. Compare seats, required features, currency, tax and the final checkout total.

LittleDraft’s paid monthly plans renew until cancelled. Allowances reset each billing period and do not roll over; requests using an exhausted allowance pause. Pro Buy Once is not currently available for checkout.

Privacy: local drafting and online services

Mailbutler’s privacy policy says selected email content, including the body and subject, may go through Mailbutler to Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service in the EU region for Smart Assistant processing. Its trust page describes additional security controls. Read both disclosures for your intended workflow. [5] [6]

LittleDraft Cloud AI sends permitted drafting context through LittleDraft’s service to its AI provider. Pro Private Mode processes supported drafts on your Mac without automatic cloud fallback. Online activation is required first; monthly local access must refresh for a renewed paid period. Account services and email delivery remain online.

LittleDraft’s cloud workflow supports macOS 15 or later. Pro Private Mode needs a compatible Apple silicon Mac, macOS 26 or later, Apple Intelligence enabled with its model downloaded, eligible Pro access and online activation. Local drafting currently supports English and German.

What the 0.20.56 test build adds

The test build adds clearer mode and activation indicators, stronger English/German instruction handling, a bounded German polishing pass and checks that help catch language errors, missing identifiers or copied instructions. It also refines the composer and limits background work under resource pressure. Review every reply; these checks do not guarantee accuracy.

Little Engine remains online. In the 0.20.56 test build, invoking it from Private AI shows what information may leave the Mac and requires approval for that request. Ordinary drafting stays local. The stable 0.20.52 release predates this research exception.

A few practical questions

Can I use Mailbutler and LittleDraft together?

We have not tested the apps together, so compatibility is not confirmed. Check with the vendors before relying on a combined setup, especially when both drafting automations or draft-insertion features are enabled.

Does LittleDraft provide email tracking?

No. LittleDraft prepares drafts and helps use writing style and context. It does not provide Mailbutler-style email-open tracking, link-click tracking or signature marketing.

Which plans include AI?

Mailbutler offers Smart Assistant in its Smart and Business plans after the 14-day trial. LittleDraft includes Cloud AI allowances in Basic and Pro with no API key required; Pro also enables eligible Private Mode drafting after activation.

Can both prepare automatic drafts?

Yes. Mailbutler documents Smart Automations that prepare draft replies for review with email-account access. LittleDraft Pro Pre-Drafts prepares suggestions for selected eligible unread messages while the app is running. Draft preparation and sending are separate actions.

Can I use LittleDraft without internet?

Eligible Pro users can draft locally after online activation while the local license remains valid. Model setup, activation, renewal, online research and email delivery need internet. Private Mode never silently falls back to Cloud AI.
