0.21.0Latest notes

Better Auto Replies

  • Better Auto replies. With Auto tone and length on, short follow-ups such as “Still nothing.” now get a complete reply instead of being treated as a quick acknowledgement, which could cut the reply short or make it fail.
  • More reliable cloud replies. When the AI service reports a problem while writing, LittleDraft now records the technical reason so it can be fixed faster. No email content is recorded.

Private AI Beta & Reliability Update

  • Private AI is now clearly marked as beta. Apple’s on-device model is still being tuned in LittleDraft. Private drafts are labelled “Private · Beta”, and Overview and Preferences explain that replies can be shorter and less accurate than Cloud AI. Please check every draft before sending.
  • Private AI follows your tone and length. Professional, Friendly, Formal and Direct, plus Brief, As needed and Detailed, now shape on-device replies. Detailed replies include a friendly opening and a helpful closing, without inventing facts or promises.
  • Natural greetings. Replies greet people by their first name, or by title and surname when the email states one (for example “Dear Mr. Whitfield” or “Sehr geehrte Frau Dr. Roth”), never with the full name. LittleDraft never guesses anyone’s gender.
  • More faithful local replies. New checks catch common mistakes before a draft reaches you: invented follow-ups, things described as already done, dropped points or apologies, “ships” turning into “delivered”, repeating the customer’s email, and mixing up du and Sie. Affected drafts are rewritten automatically.
  • Fewer blocked drafts. Ordinary emails, including short German messages, are no longer refused by Apple’s on-device safety filter. If a draft is ever blocked, the message now explains why.
  • Smarter screen captures. LittleDraft now picks the capture that matches the email. A screen showing several orders is narrowed to the order mentioned, and other customers’ details are never used. Unrelated captures are no longer included.
  • More reliable insertion into Apple Mail. Your clipboard is protected while inserting, the target draft and field are checked just before pasting, and changes Mail makes on its own (Smart Reply suggestions, signature images) no longer interrupt insertion. “Recheck & insert” now reliably reconnects to your draft.
  • Steadier shortcut and reply window. The reply window opens on the right display. A shortcut that couldn’t be registered is retried automatically. Pressing the shortcut during an insert no longer inserts twice, and an interrupted draft no longer leaves the window stuck.
  • A more useful Overview. See Replies drafted, Time saved and Ready to review at a glance, plus Recent activity for the replies you used. Activity stays encrypted on your Mac, and you can hide email subjects or clear it at any time in Privacy.
  • Clearer Library, Writing Style and Pre-Drafts. Captures are named after their content. Writing Style shows what LittleDraft learned about your replies, such as length, greeting and sign-off. Pre-Drafts shows your accounts and check status more compactly.
  • Clearer settings. Mail automation options now say exactly what they do: open the assistant, insert drafts, or generate when you reply or press the shortcut.
  • Expanded testing. Tested with more than 50 fictional English and German emails across tones and lengths, alongside the full automated test suite.

Private AI & Optimisation Update — Test build

  • Changes through version 0.20.56, currently available as a test build.
  • Private AI on your Mac. Eligible Pro users can generate emails locally using Apple’s on-device model, without using cloud reply credits. After online activation, ordinary drafting can work offline while the local license remains valid.
  • Clearer processing controls. Improved the Cloud and Private AI settings, with clearer indicators for model availability, activation and the selected mode.
  • Better English and German replies. Reworked local prompts to give your instructions greater priority, maintain the conversation language and reduce confusion between your response and the customer’s question.
  • Additional local quality checks. Added a bounded polishing pass for German replies and checks that help catch wrong-language output, omitted identifiers, copied questions and editing instructions before insertion.
  • More transparent online research. Little Engine remains an online feature. When Private AI is selected, it explains what information will leave the Mac and requires approval for that research request.
  • A more compact email composer. Reduced unused space in the New Email window and refined the writing controls and Private AI presentation.
  • More controlled resource use. Kept local context bounded, improved cancellation handling and limited background work when the Mac is under memory, thermal or power pressure. Private drafting never silently switches to Cloud AI.
  • Expanded testing. Tested nine fictional English/German scenarios covering tracking, delivery updates, refunds, invoices, support and new emails. The native regression suite also passed.
