Why updates matter
LittleDraft updates can improve Mail integration, insertion safeguards, model compatibility, and feature availability. A new website page alone does not update the app installed on your Mac. Check the version shown in LittleDraft’s settings or menu when following a guide or reporting a problem.
Check for an update
- Save or finish any active editing in Mail and LittleDraft.
- Use the app’s Check for Updates action where available.
- Read the release information and follow the update prompts.
- After installation, reopen the Applications copy of LittleDraft and confirm its version.
- Recheck Mail connection and the workflow that matters to you.
Automatic update checks are an optional preference where offered. Checks and downloads need internet. An older app without the updater may require a manual download of the current official installer. Do not replace the app with an unofficial package.
Use the release history
The documentation changelog reads the same published release records as the website. It preserves the existing past entries and reflects subsequent owner-published notes without maintaining a separate copy. A release entry’s date is shown only when a date has actually been recorded; missing historical dates are not invented.
The latest downloadable app version and the latest written release note can differ. A missing note does not prove an update is unavailable, and an old note does not define the capabilities of your newer installed build. Check the signed official update flow and the app’s current status.
A practical update example
You read the Private AI guide but cannot find the mode in an older installation. Check the installed app version and use the official updater. After updating, check compatible hardware, macOS, Apple Intelligence, and Pro activation. An update alone does not bypass those requirements.
Permissions after an update
macOS permissions belong to the installed app identity and system settings. If a permission stops working, confirm you are opening the Applications copy and read the exact error. Grant or recheck the specific permission through System Settings when needed. Avoid repeatedly deleting permissions or disabling system protections as a first troubleshooting step.
What updating does not change
Installing an update does not by itself buy a plan, renew a failed payment, grant Pro to a Basic account, send an email, or upload an entire Library. Billing eligibility and Private Mode activation are separate checks. Your mail provider and Apple Intelligence setup are also separate services.
If an update fails
Keep the error message, installed version, and macOS version. Try the official download if the app’s update flow directs you to it. If macOS reports an unexpected signature or security warning, contact support with the details instead of bypassing the warning. Do not erase your local Library or Keychain in an attempt to make an update install.
0.20.57 public release
The Private AI Beta & Reliability Update is available through Check for Updates and the website download. It includes the previously documented 0.20.56 preview improvements plus local greetings and quality checks, capture matching, Mail insertion recovery, and the refreshed Overview and settings. See the full changelog. Private AI remains beta even though the app update is publicly available.
